Holy cow, is it warm outside! Highs in the very high 90's, close to a 100 and it's still June.
A jury finally got it right. Former Gov Don Siegelman was convicted of 6 counts of fraud, 1 count of obstruction of justice, and 1 count of bribery. Of course, he's going to appeal it but I sure hope the appellate court rules that there are no grounds for an appeal.
We've had a new visitor to the backyard for the past two weeks. A raccoon has been coming out for afternoon corn! Sometimes he comes alone and sometimes with the deer. It's just way too cute! Raccoons are noctural creatures so it's a rarity for us to see him in the afternoon. Heretofore, I had only seen one raccoon in the 17 years we've lived here.
Wow - 17 years already. It just doesn't seem that long.
Well, so far, the owner of the dachshund pup hasn't been located. Very likely I have a new granddog :-) Her name is (now) Daisy and she's swiftly become part of the family. Well, except with the hubs. While she was here yesterday, her puppiness attacked one of his mounted birds. There were feathers EVERYWHERE! Every time I thought I had them all picked up, I'd find another...and another. eegads.
Yesterday on their way home from playing miniature golf, my daughter and her family were stopped at a traffic light. Across the intersection they saw a car pull off on the side of the road. The driver got out, left the door open, and walked to the trunk of her car. Unbeknownst to her (at least hopefully), her doggie, a young dachshund, jumped out. The lady got back in her car and drove off.
About that time the light turned green and my SIL headed to the dog, while Donica was trying to see in which direction the car was headed. They got the doggie but lost the car. They took the pup home and, of course, have all fallen in love with her. Even Sassy, the alpha beagle, welcomed her.
Donica is going to call some of the radio stations today to see if she can locate the owner. She didn't want to leave the pup alone, so Dixie and I have company today. So far, Dixie is being nice. The pup has even sniffed Dixie's toys and chewed on one of Dixie's bone, and Dixie's been good about it. Dixie looks humongo next to the pup! Of course, they had to sniff each other, and it was comical to see them going 'round and 'round, noses to rumps!
Anyway, Donica is going to try to locate the owner, but something tells me that she won't be too upset if the owner isn't located!
I haven't been very good about posting here, now have I.
Today was a nice day spent with the family.
Avery can now count to 10 in Spanish. Just way too cute.
I hate political election season. All the ads on TV, billboards, radio, and through the mail. Having been involved in the inner workings of state government, I know how much c r a p it really all is. Bah.
So now that I've posted chastising myself on not posting, it will be a couple of weeks before I'm back around these parts.
Take care and be good out there!
